Who Is Eligible for the CM Punjab Solar Scheme 2026?
Eligibility is based on your monthly electricity consumption over the past 6 months. Here is how it works:
0 to 100 Units per Month If your electricity bill falls between 0 and 100 units, you will receive one large solar panel along with a complete inverter and system setup.
100 to 200 Units per Month If your bill is between 100 and 200 units, you will receive two solar panels with full system installation.
Above 200 Units per Month If your electricity consumption in any single month over the past 6 months exceeded 200 units, you are not eligible for this scheme. No solar panels will be provided.
The government reviews the last 6 months of your electricity consumption records. Even if your bill crossed 200 units in just one of those months, you will not qualify.

Additional Eligibility Conditions
Beyond your electricity consumption, there are a few more requirements you must meet:
No Defaulter Status: You must not be a defaulter. If your electricity meter was disconnected in the past one year due to non-payment of bills, you will not be eligible for this scheme.
Only One Meter Per House: Your household must have only one electricity meter registered to it. If your home has two or three meters, you will not qualify. The government will only provide solar panels to houses with a single registered electricity meter.

How Registration Works After You Apply
Once you register, a team from the government will visit your home for a survey. Alternatively, they may contact you on the mobile number you provided to collect your information verbally.
After verification, a vehicle loaded with solar panels will visit your area and install the panels at eligible households.
The installation teams operate area by area, working from a pre-approved list of eligible homes in each village, street, or city neighborhood.

How to Apply: Two Methods
Method 1 – Apply via SMS
This is the quickest way to register. The government has issued a dedicated number for this purpose.
SMS Number: 8800
Here is how to write the SMS:
Write your electricity bill reference number followed immediately by your CNIC (National Identity Card) number, with no spaces or dashes between them.
For example, if your reference number is 1234567890 and your CNIC is 3520112345671, your SMS should look like this:
12345678903520112345671
Send this message to 8800.
A few important points:
- The meter must be registered in the name of the person whose CNIC you are using.
- Do not add any spaces or dashes between the reference number and CNIC.
- Make sure you have a balance of at least Rs. 5 to Rs. 20 on your SIM, as this message will not send from a package-based allowance.
Once the SMS is sent, your application will be registered.
Method 2 – Apply Online via the Punjab Government Portal
To apply online, go to Google and search for “CM Punjab Solar Panel Scheme“. Open the result from punjab.gov.pk, which is the official Punjab Government portal.
On the website, scroll down and click on the three-line menu icon. Look for the Register button and click on it to begin your registration.
Important Note for 2026 Applicants: At the time of this writing, the online registration portal is currently closed. The portal was open in 2025, through which around 500 households successfully received solar panels. The portal is expected to reopen by the end of this month or sometime in the middle of 2026. Once it reopens, the Register button will become active and you will be able to complete your online application.
In the meantime, you can still apply through the SMS method described above.
How to Check Your Application Result
After applying, you can check whether you have been selected for the solar panels through the same Punjab Government portal.
Here is how:
- Go to punjab.gov.pk and search for the CM Solar Scheme page.
- Click on the three-line menu icon.
- Select Application Result.
- Enter your electricity bill reference number (without spaces).
- Fill in the captcha and click Submit.
The result will tell you whether you are eligible and have been selected. If selected, it will show the date on which the solar panels will be installed at your home. If not selected, that information will also be displayed.
Important Tips
- Keep your electricity bill handy before applying, you will need the reference number.
- Make sure the CNIC you use matches the name on the electricity meter.
- Do not leave unpaid electricity bills, as defaulters are not eligible.
- Ensure your home has only one meter registered to it.
- For the SMS method, use a SIM with a sufficient balance (not just a data or call package).
- Check the portal regularly, as it is expected to reopen for 2026 registrations soon.
